Cellophane can be hard to pick up sometimes, especially in little strips. Somehow that relates to... something.

When I was a smaller version of myself, let's call this James Beta edition 5.1. (because I was five at the time. I may have been five and some fraction of a year which converts to .1, but I can't promise this. Let's say James Beta 5.X. Or 5.Y. You decide), my grandma made toffee, as was her want. She laid it out in flat slabs and cut it into little squares. I ate of this toffee, revelations were had.

Mainly that I liked toffee.

Making, what I consider a reasonable assumption for a five year old, the decision that as toffee (which is coloured and see through) was of the tasting good, that all transparent brightly coloured substances were for my consumption. Apropos, I attempted to eat the cellophane in the activity cupboard.

Well, I say attempted, but I'm fairly certain at least some of it made it into my digestive system. Fade to black, cut to disillusioned ill-child with deep-seeded distrust of art supplies and transparent confectionary.

Point being, your simile illustrates the ability of your mind to mislead, poison and forever dampen the spirits of inquisitive youth.

You also owe my grandma three sheets of yellow cellophane.
